Clinical Research Project

These grants are available to qualified veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses

to enable them to undertake small-scale clinical research in small animals kept as pets, with the ultimate objective to advance understanding of the causes and/or management of a clinical disorder.

At least one applicant on each proposal must be a qualified veterinary surgeon. Applications from practitioners, academics, as well as joint applications between practice and academia are all welcome. Projects must be carried out within the UK.

Funding of up to £10,000 is available to cover a 1-3 year project. These funds can be used to pay for research expenses and consumables but not for the researchers' time.

Applicants from practice who do not have access to ethical review through a university are advised to apply for ethical review through the RCVS Ethics Review Panel.

Projects are selected in the hope that study results will have a rapid and positive impact on the way diseases are diagnosed, managed and treated in general practice as well as at a specialist level.

Applications have now closed. Please watch this space for when they open again on 1st October 2020
